How Is It Done?

Lifetime Memoirs is as much process-oriented as product-oriented. We believe that the process should be very enjoyable and, in addition to having a wonderful Memoir to share with family and friends, we hope you can look back fondly on the whole experience of producing it.

Step 1 – Introductory Meeting – The process begins with a short, no obligation preparation meeting. We will talk about your reasons for wanting to record your stories or the stories of a loved one, and we will  answer any questions you have. In the process, we can get to know each other. If we decide to work together we set up a Preparation Meeting.

Step 2 – Preparation Meeting – In this meeting we begin to discuss your life and stories and get a general sense of the important people and events in your life.

After the Preparation Meeting, we will take the information we have gathered and create an outline of your life. We will use this outline to guide the Recording Session.

Step 3 – Interview Recording Session – We will guide you through the recording of your stories at a casual and comfortable pace. Many people find this to be a very satisfying experience knowing that their stories are being recorded for all time.

Step 4 – Editing – After the recording is complete, editing begins on your Memoir. The type of editing depends on the Memoir package you have chosen. Typically the voice of the interviewer is edited out and your stories are placed in chronological order. Music to complement your story and personality is woven throughout, and for video, photographs and old home movies are added.

Step 5 – Receive Your Finished Memoir – You will receive 5 copies of your custom-packaged Memoir to be shared with family and friends. Additional copies can also be ordered.
