I’m not sure if I want to produce a Personal Memoir or an Ethical Will. Can I do both?

Yes. You can combine both types of Memoir projects in a full 1 hour Audio or Video with one portion dedicated to a Personal Memoir and another to an Ethical Will. This is a wonderful way to achieve a balance between the experiences of one’s life and the making meaning of those experiences.

 

I don’t like being on camera. Can I still have a Memoir produced?

Most people get used to being on camera very quickly, usually after a few minutes forgetting it’s even there. However, those who would like to record their stories but prefer not to be on camera can still produce an Audio Memoir. Audio is an effective way to record the stories as well as capture the characteristics and voice of the storyteller.

 

What if I don’t know what to say?

We guide you through the process from start to finish. First, we will lead you through the pre-interview and identify important people, events, and topics from throughout your life. We will create an outline of your life and when we record, we’ll ask you one question at a time. If you aren’t happy with your response we can simply do a retake. That’s one of the great things about audio/video technology.

 

Will you ask uncomfortable questions? What if I don’t want to talk about something?

This is your Memoir and we want to help you tell the stories that you want to tell. Producing a Memoir is an enjoyable process for all involved and we want to help you to feel as comfortable as possible. If there is anything that you would rather not talk about just let us know. And if you tell a story and then decide afterward that you don’t want it included, just let us know and we will be sure to leave it out of the finished Memoir.

 

How long does it take to produce a Memoir?

The length of time depends on the Memoir Package you have chosen. Typically it is the amount of editing that determines how long a project will take. A Level 1 Audio Memoir can be recorded and edited in under a week whereas a Level 3 Video Memoir can be recorded in 1-2 days but can take up to 6-8 weeks to complete.

 

How much does it cost?

Prices start at $500 for a Level 1 Audio Memoir and go up to several thousand dollars depending on the Memoir Package. Please contact us if you have any questions about packages and pricing.

 

The cost is a little out of my price range. What are my options?

If you are interested in commissioning a full Memoir or Ethical Will but the cost is prohibitive, consider sharing the cost among family members, perhaps giving it as a gift. Or speak with us directly and we will be able to present options to suit your budget.
